| Meaning: | The three stars stand for the three distinct geographical areas of Tennessee, the lowlands of the west, the highlands of the middle and the mountains of the east. They also represent Tennessee as the third state, after the original 13, to join the Union. The stars and blue circle represent an indivisible unity.
