Standard Collars vs. Dome CollarsStandard collars are sized by flag pole shaft diameter and are stocked for 3 in., 3-1/2 in., 4 in., 5 in., 5-1/2 in., 6 in., 7 in., 8 in., 10 in. and 12 in. shafts. Dome collars carry a rounded profile and are sized by butt diameter, starting at 4 in. and 5 in. Measure the pole where the collar will sit, not at the top, since tapered poles change diameter over their length. Why a Base Collar MattersA foundation tube is set flush or slightly proud of the concrete, which leaves a visible seam where the pole enters the ground. The collar covers that seam, keeps trimmer damage and standing water off the joint, and is the single least expensive part that changes how a finished flagpole looks from the street. Ordering the Right SizeIf you are replacing a collar, measure the outside diameter of the shaft with a tape or caliper. If you are building a new installation, match the collar to the pole you are ordering from our residential or commercial pole pages.
