Internal Halyard Winch Parts

Replacement winches, locks, counterweights and cable for servicing internal halyard winch flagpoles.

Winches and Handles

Stainless steel winches are stocked with 1.5 in., 2 in. and 5 in. drums — the drum size determines how much cable the winch holds and therefore the pole height it can serve. Winch handles are available separately, which is the most commonly replaced part since handles are removed after each use and go missing.

Locks, Counterweights and Cable

Compression locks and compression lock keys secure the access door. Vinyl coated counterweights in 3.5 in., 7 in. and 14 in. keep tension on the flag arrangement so it rides properly inside the shaft. Flag arrangement cable, retaining rings and heavy duty retaining rings complete the internal assembly.

Diagnosing an Internal Halyard Problem

A flag that will not raise smoothly is usually a worn cable, a missing or undersized counterweight, or a truck bearing that has seized — check all three before replacing the winch itself.
